Deathmatching clarifications 🔴
Deathmatching (DM) — Clarification Rules Definition: Deathmatching is attacking, injuring, or killing another player without a valid In-Character (IC) reason and sufficient roleplay development. 1. Random DM (RDM): Attacking or killing someone with no valid IC reason is prohibited. 2. Valid IC reason required: Personal dislike, OOC arguments, trolling, or simply wanting someone’s weapon/items are not valid reasons to kill them. 3. Roleplay before violence: Having an IC reason does not automatically justify immediately shooting someone. When reasonably possible, the situation should develop through roleplay before lethal violence begins. 4. Escalation: Minor situations should not immediately escalate to lethal force. Insults, arguments, traffic accidents, or small disagreements alone normally do not justify killing someone. 5. Gang conflicts: Being a member of an enemy gang does not automatically give permission to shoot that person on sight. There must be an active IC situation or another valid RP reason. 6. Revenge: You may not return after dying to kill the person who killed you using information from your previous death. Any applicable NLR rules still apply. 7. Provoking DM: Deliberately provoking another player solely to create an excuse to kill them is prohibited. 8. Vehicle Deathmatching (VDM): Intentionally using a vehicle to run over, repeatedly ram, or kill players without a legitimate RP justification is prohibited. 9. Helping a DM: Knowingly assisting someone who is deathmatching—for example, shooting their victim or helping chase the victim—can also be treated as DM. 10. Self-defense: Players may defend themselves when they are genuinely attacked or face an immediate credible threat. Self-defense should not be used as an excuse to continue unnecessary violence after the threat has ended. 11. Police interactions: Running from police, receiving a ticket, or being pursued does not by itself justify opening fire on officers. There should be appropriate IC justification for lethal escalation. 12. Evidence and context: Staff should judge DM reports using the full situation, including what happened before the shooting. A short clip showing only the final gunfight may not establish who initiated or justified the violence. Simple rule: You need a legitimate IC reason and appropriate RP escalation before attacking or killing another player. “I had a reason” does not automatically make a killing valid.
